Sustainable energy from used fats
Fat recycling
for Biofuels
Recycling plant- and animal-based fats is one of the most effective ways to convert waste materials into valuable energy. ERV collects, cleans, and processes grease trap contents as well as used cooking oils. These can then either be fermented to produce biogas or converted into biodiesel – even with a high proportion of free fatty acids – thanks to our specially developed process.
Fat from separators
Fats from separator systems are pumped out by vacuum trucks, analyzed, and professionally processed. The recovered fat can then be transferred into two sustainable energy pathways:
- Fermentation to biogas (organic fat sludges)
- Conversion to biodiesel (mixed fatty acids)
Efficient processing
Certified. Committed. Connected.
We guarantee proven quality and maximum resource utilization. ERV GmbH is certified as a waste management specialist (registration no. 0258, since 1998), ISO 50001 (energy management system), and REDcert-EU (sustainability certification for biofuels, since 2021). This ensures that all fat fractions are processed in a legally compliant, energy-efficient, and fully traceable manner – from delivery to reintegration into the energy cycle.

Trading in organic fats
We supply approved, fully traceable certified fat fractions to operators of biogas plants and provide companies in gastronomy, the food industry, and retail with sustainable disposal and recovery routes. We collect both liquid and solid organic waste materials, including used cooking fats, off-spec batches, and grease trap contents.
- Fat supply from: slaughterhouses, butcheries, agricultural operations, hospitals, restaurants, large canteens, food-processing companies, oil mills
- Components/value materials from: vegetable oils, oilseeds, olive pulp, palm oil, soy, sunflower, rapeseed, oil meals, press cakes, oleochemistry, biofuels
- Recovery for: biodiesel industry, fuel industry, biogas substrates, milk fatty acids
Acceptance of fats
Fats and fat sludges can be delivered to any ERV site in the region – by tank truck, IBC, or drum.
